Kira Hug

The Weird Conversion Copywriter

Kira Hug specializes in weird conversion copywriting – a niche of her making. She writes and consults for clients that are prepared to embrace their weird and show up online as their multifaceted selves.

After experiencing fast success as a freelance copywriter, Kira joined forces with fellow copywriter Rob Marsh to create The Copywriter Club. Together, they offer memberships, courses and masterminds for copywriters at all levels of their business. And they generate between $500K and $1M a year doing it.

However, a membership isn’t how Kira first crossed the six-figure threshold. Or how she doubled her rates in less than six months and bagged herself a three-month waitlist. She did that by dressing up as a pirate and snapping some photos in her backyard.

Of course, there’s a little more to that story – and you should’ve read that in her chapter. What it really comes down to is branding. And Kira believes that creating a character concept brand is what helped her go from being a relatively unknown copywriter to attracting big-name clients like James Wedmore and Rick Mulready.

Kira's six-figure advice for you: Take a Why not me? Why not now? attitude

“Lean in EARLY. I leaned in significantly earlier than I probably should have. I was speaking with authority before I really had it. Because why not me? Even with our new AI podcast. I haven’t been an early adopter. There are a billion reasons for me not to have this show. But I can figure this out and help people sort through it. So why not me? Why not now?”

You don’t need permission from anyone to take up space in the copywriting industry. Kira encourages you to avoid waiting until you “feel ready” to do what will grow your business.

Feel unready and do it anyway.

If Kira had waited to start speaking on podcasts and build her brand, she wouldn’t have grown her business half as quickly.

It doesn’t matter if you don’t have much experience as a copywriter. You have experience and confidence in other areas. Kira’s advice is to channel that confidence from wherever you bring it.

And own your weird. Kira will get the pom poms.
